Sunflower oil refining workshop introduction:

The crude vegetable oil from above mentioned two ways of extracting, oil pressing and/or solvent extraction, will be pumped into

oil refinery units to produce cooking oil at various grades.

The main equipment of oil refinery is various kinds of vessels and tanks carrying on different tasks with additives.

These tasks may include sedimentation/filtering, neutralization (removing free fatty acid), degumming, decolorization (bleaching), deodorization,

especially the dewaxing process is necessary, more wax would destroy the quality of sunflower oil.

By-Products from sunflower seed oil plant

The by-product from the oil press and solvent extraction process is sunflower seed meal. The meal could be used as animal feed with pelleting

machinery, especially for chicken, cow, sheep and fish, or source material for the other way of extraction. You can get soapstock from oil

refining process. Soapstock is the source material for laundry soap with soap making machinery and washing detergent.

Cooking with refined sunflower oil

One of the benefits of sunflower oil is that it is extremely light in flavor, so the oil doesn't overpower the rest of a dish's ingredients.

This light flavor is perfect in simple pasta dishes, including shrimp and broccoli pasta, and pastas using simple garlic or lemon sauces.

To make shrimp and broccoli pasta, saute shrimp in a large skillet using 2 tbsp of sunflower oil. Once the shrimp are cooked, add cooked pasta,

steamed broccoli, 3 tbsp. of sunflower oil, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper flakes. Saute on medium heat for two minutes or until all ingredients

are combined.

Frying with refined sunflower oil

Because sunflower oil is low in saturated fat, many use the oil for frying. Unlike canola oil,which is high in saturated fat, sunflower oil is

composed of monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, making it a much healthier alternative. Use sunflower oil to fry potato skins, mozzarella sticks,

onion rings, chicken or seafood. Use a simple batter made with flour, egg and water, or bread and cracker crumbs. Heat sunflower oil in medium pot

or fryer, dip products in and remove once the batter is brown and crispy. Allow to cool.
